Riley & CO Designer Highlight!

Hello everyone! This month it is my turn to be featured on the Riley & CO blog for the July edition of Designer Highlight.

For my project, I decided to make a Riley clock! I had a vague idea of what I wanted it to look like but nothing concrete. I even spent some time shopping around for blank clock bases to decorate and then smacked myself for buying something when I could MAKE it instead!

So, I grabbed some black medium weight chipboard from my stash and started scouring the house for a bowl big enough to make the largest circle possible.

Once I had two bases cut out, I glued them together using scor-tape and wet adhesive. This bad boy isn't coming apart any time soon.

After I had my bases drying under some heavy books, I started making a clock template out of some "ugly" scrapbook paper.

Once I had my circle cut out, I folded it into quarters and googled the angles between hours on a clock. The answer is 30 degrees. So, now I have a clock template. Also, be sure to cut the tip off of your folded up clock so you have a center point hole.

(I tried to be fancy by folding my circle several times thinking that would get the correct angles and I wouldn't have to measure anything....wrong!)

Once I had my angles figured out, it was time to start decorating! Again, I still didn't have a theme picked out other than "It's 5 O'clock somewhere!" so when my best friend was over cropping she had the idea to make it beach themed. Score! Now I was off and running on a theme. Thanks Theresa!

With a theme in mind, I grabbed several Riley stamps and settled on Toasting RileyMartini RileyFloating RileyCheers Riley & It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere!

After several hours, much fussy cutting and clock mechanism assembly, I have a Riley clock! Isn't is great? I giggle everytime I look at it!

I am sending this clock to the Head Moose, Tanya soon. Maybe you will see it in the Riley booth in the near future!

I hope you enjoyed my project. I had a blast making it and I think I will be making more clocks in the future. Winter is coming. :)

Before you go! Here are a few of my favorite projects that I made recently and wanted to share. Have a great week!

Sneak Peak! KB Riley dies are headed your way soon!

Hello everyone! If you haven't heard the news Karen Burniston and Riley & CO have teamed up to form a new company, KB Riley LLC. You can check out the brand new website HERE and the Facebook page HERE. Preorders are open until June 1st and trust me you are going to want everything! Karen Burniston is known for her innovative, thoughtful and versatile designs. My biggest problem was deciding which set to break out first! Hehe. Check out my first project with the new dies:

I have to share this next card with you. While I was making my card, my niece wanted to make one too. This is what she made. You can tell a 13 year old made it....I had to wrestle the glitter pen out of her hand! Hehehe

I had so much fun playing with these dies! I can't wait to share future projects. I definitely recommend watching the assembly videos Karen made for each die set. They are a great way to get ideas and pick up the tips and tricks from the Pop Up master herself!

I'm off to play some more! See you next time!

Hiya! Today at the Ink Spot blog we have a new challenge. This time our theme was Travel! I immediately knew what I wanted to do, admittedly it was a scraplifted idea from the internet but I really wanted to recreate it!

I used Map Riley and You're Off to Great Places, grabbed my paints, inks, sacrificed a manila file folder, and then I was ready to get busy.  Lookie:

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the design team came up with and give them some love!

Share Your Pride Challenge

Hello! Today at the Ink Spot blog we have a new challenge, Share Your Pride. I could have gone in several different directions with this challenge but the idea that stuck with me the most was the fact that I have a couple of ideas that have been made into stamps for Riley & CO. I'm very proud and excited about that! My first stamp is Pro in Procrastinate. Naturally I had to use Smiling Burt and have a little fun.

Introducing the newest All-Star of the PPL (Professional Procrastination League)......

I drew the helmet and jersey by hand and cut them out to fit Burt. I think it came out super cute! Burt totally looks ready to put off his tasks. Just like someone who is writing this blog post with 40 mins to spare. Hehe.

Be sure to stop by the Ink Spot blog and check out what the rest of the design team is proud of!

Fancy and Fun Challenge

Hello everyone! Today at the Ink Spot blog it is my turn to host a challenge. I chose Fancy and Fun for the theme. I had seen a tutorial for a Double Diamond Fold card and knew that I wanted an excuse to make one. Two birds, one stone. That's how I roll. :P

Check it out:

For the Fancy: I allowed myself to use some of my all time favorite pattern paper for the card base and even went a bit crazy making 3d die cut flowers. A new trick for me was to use a magnet to hold the card closed. This made the card easily opened and makes it stand up nicely.

For the Fun: I really liked the idea of juxtaposing a beautiful card with snarky sentiments. Luckily for me, the Funny Bones line is chock full of them. Hehe

I narrowed down my choices to Wondering Midge, Happy Birthday Old Friend, and Damn Girl. What do you think? Did I succeed in fancy and fun? Let me know in the comments.

Have a great day!

Before I go, I want to share with you the Riley & CO and Prickley Pear DT Call! Details below.

You're Off To Great Places

It's that time again! Time for a hot off the press Ink Spot Design Team challenge! Our host this week is Joy and she chose the theme...Masculine. I find masculine projects difficult usually but once I saw this digi from Cornish Heritage Farms, I knew I had found my muse. Lookie:

See what I mean? The Harbor Scene digital image and Funny Bone sentiment, You're off to great places lend themselves well to lots of types of projects. Not just masculine but travel, retirement, graduation, birthday etc.

I quickly colored this image with Distress Crayons by putting a bit of color directly to the image and then spraying the whole thing with water and smudging it all around. This gave it a vintagey watercolor effect that I really liked. I added some metal embellishments and called this puppy finished.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with!

Have you seen our new Friday Faves? Every Friday Tanya picks out a few of her favorite Rileys and Funny Bones along with some samples and shows you how they can be used. A little inspiration for your weekend? Yes please! Sign up for our email HERE and see what you've been moosing!
